It's a sour start to the new year!
This month, community member and mother of five Tiffany Wallace is leading a series of Fermentation Workshops each Monday in January.
Workshop #1 - January 8, 2024
SAUERKRAUT Fermentation
Class Re-cap: This workshop kicked-off with fascinating history and present-day facts about Sauerkraut. This lacto-fermented food has been around for ages and continues to be a staple for gut health and flavor.
Tiffany led the class in how to make sauerkraut from start to finish. She provided fresh cabbages, jars and salt along with step by step guidance on making the Sauerkraut. In between the cabbage chopping and crunching, participants could taste Tiffany's samples of various sauerkraut flavors. Once everyone's jar was full - they were lightly sealed and sent home to complete the fermentation process.
It was an educational and delicious hands-on experience!
